– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup butter, softened
– 1 cup white sugar
– 2 eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1/2 cup custard powder
– 1/2 cup boiling water


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the custard powder and boiling water until smooth.
5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Spread the custard mixture over the batter. Top with remaining batter.
6. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
