French Macaron Mastery: A Beginner’s Guide to Sweet & Savory Macarons
French Macaron Recipe for Beginners
– 2/3 cup almond flour
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 2 large egg whites
– 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– Food coloring (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar.
3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add in granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
4. Gently fold in almond flour and powdered sugar mixture into the egg whites until combined.
5. If desired, add food coloring and mix until desired color is achieved.
6. Transfer the mixture to a pastry bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe 1-inch circles onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch of space between each macaron.
7. Tap the baking sheets on the counter to release any air bubbles. Let the macarons sit for 30 minutes before baking.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the macarons are lightly golden.
9. Let cool completely before removing from the baking sheets.
10. Serve and enjoy!
