Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and molasses until light and fluffy. Beat in egg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves, and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture and mix until combined.
  4. Place granulated sugar in a shallow bowl. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set. Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
