Blueberry Buckle

Blueberry Buckle is a classic American dessert that is a cross between a cake and a cobbler. It is made with a buttery cake batter that is topped with fresh blueberries and a crunchy streusel topping. This recipe is easy to make and is sure to be a hit with family and friends.


* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 1 cup sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup milk
* 2 cups fresh blueberries
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/4 cup butter, melted


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the 2 cups flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Gently fold in the blueberries. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
3. In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 cup sugar and 1/3 cup flour. Cut in the 1/4 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over the batter.
4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
